The Team

Adam Murtomaa, CEO

From a young age, Adam has always been interested in audio and technology. During his younger years, his father worked as an audio engineer at Icelands’ National Broadcasting Service (RÚV) and Adam spent a lot of time around analog mixing desks, tape machines, microphones and other audio engineers.

In 2015, Adam began his journey as a music producer, which eventually led him down the path of audio engineering. He graduated with a diploma in audio engineering from SAE Institute Stockholm in 2019 and a year later with a B.Sc. degree in audio production from SAE Institute Berlin. He immediately began his freelance career as and audio engineer and video technician and then established Kaiku Sound in the spring of 2021.

Adam’s passion for audio engineering and production is multifaceted, but his primary love is the technical aspect of every project or challenge that comes his way.

Jan Murtomaa, Senior Engineer

In his younger years, Jan worked numerous interesting jobs; sailor for a few years, diver and diving instructor, fireman, teacher and he even worked at a nuclear power plant. In 1995, Jan moved to Gothenburg with his wife and newborn son, Adam, where he began his studies in audio engineering. After his graduation, the family moved back to Iceland and Jan started working as an audio engineer for the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service.

With his deep understanding of audio, great technical prowess and a sensitive ear, Jan was considered amongst Iceland’s best engineers.

In his career, Jan has worked with large names from the recording industry, such as the Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden, as well as a plethora of Icelandic artists. Alongside his work in the music sector, Jan has also had a successful career in radio production, with some of his shows having been used as teaching material in radio production at the BBC.

Pétur Magnússon, cinematographer

At a young age, Pétur Gautur moved with his family to California. Pétur was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, but later migrated south to Los Angeles, where he started his career as a film maker, director, script writer and more. After a decade in the city of angels and more than three decades in the US, Pétur moved back home to Iceland in 2020.

Pétur has had his hand in producing music videos, documentaries, short films and even feature films, such as Engaged in Vegas, Still Here and Birta. In Iceland, Pétur has worked closely with one of Iceland’s largest directors, Bragi Þór Hinriksson, as well as one of Iceland’s busiest video production companies, Skjáskot, where he has produced videos and commercials for some of Iceland’s largest companies.
